La
Stanza restaurant is tucked away in a beautiful converted
military construction built by the Knights of St. John in
the 16th Century. Patrons are welcomed by a
lovely front garden and then led into a small arched
hallway with a limestone bar. The place itself creates a
very warm atmosphere with its little rooms, multitude of
arches and the lighting, strategically placed to accent
the character of the old Maltese stone. The main dining
area in Winter is a perspexed roofed courtyard or the more
romantic “little” Stanza still proudly displaying the
traditional Alcova and many other antique memorabilia,
which remind the viewers of Maltese traditions. In
Summer, dining takes place Al Fresco, on the little
terrace boasting a great view of the old Citadel and
Gelmus Hill. During the feasts of St. George and Santa
Maria, diners can enjoy an unobstructed fireworks show
from La Stanza terrace. |
